Vlogger unites all generations Tata Safari – Video

Tata Safari is an iconic moniker in Indian automotive history and it is rare to see all generations together

In this post, we will take a look at the details of all generations of Tata Safari together. Safari was first launched in India way back in 1998. Today we find it in its 4th generation avatar. This shows the continuous growth and demand for SUVs in our market. The Safari label has a rich heritage and history. A few decades back, it was one of the first Indian aspirational SUVs for the people in our country. Big, tall, bulky and powerful, there was a unique aura around owning and driving it on the road. That was his greatest charm that continues to this day. In this post, let’s take a look at the details of all these Tata Safari avatars.

All generations of Tata Safari

Tata Safari Gen 1

This video is from Fuel Injected on YouTube. The host has all the Safari models since 1998. In fact, he explains specific details about each model before he goes with them. For example, the first generation model went into production in 1998. It had a 2.0 liter Peugeot XD88 turbodiesel engine that produced a great peak power of 87 hp. This engine was paired with a 5-speed manual transmission that drove the rear wheels. However, there was an option to go for the AWD iteration as well. You would be surprised to know that the Indian auto giant has even exported it to Europe. There, it embodied several market-specific changes, such as a redesigned bumper and headlight washer. Since it was launched in 1998, it featured many unique features such as rear AC vents, soft dash and electrically adjustable ORVM.

It then received a facelift model that had a lot of improvements and modifications in terms of design, features and powertrain. So to call it a maternity facelift is a bit of an understatement. On the outside, it had new headlights, new bumper, new grille, new braking system and a brand new 3.0 liter Dicor engine that was developed in just 6 months to compete with the Mahindra Scorpio. This mill was good for 114bhp and 300Nm of peak power and torque. This is a special edition model that was sent to the rally for SAARC members. Tata Motors has created 30 special units for this rally. It had a lot of other features in stock.

Tata Safari Gen 2

Then we had the Gen 2 Tata Safari, which was responsible for the massive SUV craze among mainstream car buyers. The aesthetics have again been significantly improved along with the equipment in the cabin. Sitting inside its cabin actually exudes a sense of premium space. It also featured a new engine that was much smoother and more powerful. It was a 2.2-liter Dicor mill that produced a respectable 140 horsepower and 320 Nm of peak power and torque. In addition, it even contained a different chassis than the outgoing model.

Tata Safari Gen 3

Then came probably the most desired avatar of the Tata Safari for most potential car buyers, the Safari Storme. It was introduced to our market in 2012. After all, you can still find one of these on the roads today. The Safari Storme upped the ante with all the latest bells and whistles at the time, in addition to a fresh and stylish exterior and upgraded mechanical components. This moved the spare wheel from the boot lid under the boot. It initially had a Varicor 320 engine that produced a respectable 140 hp and 320 Nm of peak power and torque. However, at a later stage it got a Varicor 400 engine that generated a massive 156bhp and 400Nm of peak power and torque. Note that this model has been further modified for the Indian Army. You must have seen it in the convoy of our armed forces over the years. In total, over 3100 such units were created and delivered to our army.

Tata Safari Gen 4

Finally we come to the current generation Tata Safari which obviously looks futuristic compared to other models. This latest version of the Safari carries a striking look with a modern front fascia and an extremely luxurious interior. In fact, it has a retail price of more than Rs 30 lakh, on the road for the top model. This shows how far the Indian automaker has come with this product. It features a 2.0 liter Fiat turbodiesel engine that delivers 170k and 350Nm of peak power and torque. There are manual and automatic transmission options to cater to the needs of all kinds of buyers. These are all generations of Tata Safari.
